There is a local band that is on the top of my radar screen and they are called Blue Mountain Mule. I was introduced to Russ Evans of Blue Mountain Mule one day when he dropped off his press kit to Old California Coffee House and Eatery in San Marcos Ca where I received his Demo CD and Press Kit and took a listen to his demo! They were good… I mean they were really good… So after a few phone calls back and forth, I gave Russ a call and asked if he could come and play for a couple of hours during one of our Sunday Art & Music shows that we held during the Summer 2011. They agreed and I am so thankful they did, because they blew us away when they played live!

Here’s a picture of the band, Blue Mountain Mule. There is Steve on Banjo. Sharon on Stand up Bass and Lead Vocals, Brian on Rythm Guitar and Russ on the Mandolin and Lead Vocals. How cool is this band… A banjo, a stand up bass and a mandolin… Come on…. You should see these guys play live… They’re amazing!

and they had better be amazing… Look how many microphones they brought… I think they want you to hear them play…

Their genre is Bluegrass, but they seem to be a blend of rock and roll, classic rock, a little country at times, but with a bluegrass beat to it… If country has a twang to it, what kind of twang does bluegrass have?

I tease them a little bit about all their equipment, but the truth is, they are totally amazing to listen to and to watch play live…. They are really fun and where else can you see and hear these kinds of instruments play for free on weekend evening in North County San Diego! one thing is for certain, that you will always find the hottest, the best up and coming talent in San Diego at Old California Coffee House and Eatery in San Marcos Ca.
