At Old California Coffee House & Eatery in San Marcos Ca, we serving up some of the best tasting salads in all of North County San Diego! Old Cal Coffee prides itself on the freshness of their salads. Every piece of lettuce is hand washed in ice cold water to keep the lettuce fresh & crisp. We only use Red Leaf Lettuce or a combination of Red Leaf Lettuce and Spinach leaves, depending on which salad you choose. You will NOT be served romain lettuce, iceberg lettuce or any of those pre-made bags of chopped lettuce. Every piece of Red Leaf lettuce is de-veined, so you are only receiving the best part of the lettuce head, which is the leafy green part of the lettuce, which of course, is the healthies and most nutricious part for you.
One of my favorite salads at Old Cal Coffee is the Apple Chicken Pecan Salad. We start with our fresh crisp, red leaf lettuce and add half a green apple, lean grilled chicken breast, Feta Cheese, Pecans with Balsamic Vinaigrette. It is healthy, delicious and filling.
Another one of my favorite salads is the Baked Falafel Salad. Our Falafel is home made and baked, not fried. It is extremely healthy and very tasty. We start with a chick pea flour, add adried onion & parsley, a hint of cumin, a little garlic powder & chili flakes for flavor, but don’t worry, it is not spicy, and season to taste. The Baked Falafel Salad comes with cucumber, red bell peppers, tomato on a bed of red leaf lettuce with Tztziki sauce and balsamic vinaigrette. For your vegan friends, this salad is vegan without the tzatziki sauce, so keep that in mind for your friends who are vegans.
We have a full Food menu and everything is Fresh & Delicious! Morning Scrambles, Gourmet Sandwiches & Wraps, Specialty Soups & Salads, Smoothies, Bagels, Pastries and Desserts are served all day and all night. We’ve become quite famous for our Vegetarian & Vegan dishes such as our Baked Tofu and Homemade Vegan Chili. Old California House and Eatery is proud to offer Gluten free Sandwiches on Udi’s Gluten Free Wheat Bread. Come on in and taste for yourself….
