I received a call from a musician named Leonard Morris, who wanted to play Live Music at Old California Coffee House & Eatery in San Marcos, Ca. As most of you know who follow this blog, I get a couple of requests a week to play at my e shop, so I told Leonard that I would look at his stuff as I do with every artist. He tells me that he is friends with Ricky Smalls, who at the time, I hadn’t met Ricky yet, so that didn’t really mean anything to me. Besides, he could have said he knew Santana and it wouldn’t mean that he could play well. He insisted that he was good and that he played for other local venues around San Diego, so I told him that I would check out his stuff as I do every musician. Well, I checked out his website and heard this guy sing and wanted to book him right away! We got to talk and I gave this guy a couple of dates. He played here last Friday and I captured a few video clips of him and his band playing.

I’ll ease you into Leonard… This is the first video that I shot of Friday’s performance. I think this was his second song of the first set, so he wasn’t even warmed up yet, but take listen to this… Check out Falsetto in this guy’s tone! Here he is singing John Mayer… Not a bad way to start out a set if you ask me.

OK, then Lenny comes up with Falling to Pieces from the Script, which really shows off the falsetto in his voice… Just a take a listen and see what I mean…

We are winding down the night and Lenny is getting great reviews from our customers and our staff. The crowd has really warmed up to him and by this time, I think it time to give credit to the people that really make this all happen. Leonard’s band members are awesome! I mean, these guys shred! If you don’t belive me, just check out this little video clip of these guys playing… Please keep in mind that they are playing acoustic guitar… Could you imagine this guy on an electric… SICK!!!
