We have a “NEW” Band playing tonight at Old California Coffee House & Eatery in San Marcos, Ca. I want to share a great story with you… When I bought Old Cal Coffee in Jan 2011, I was handed a box of cd’s and was told this box contains all the demo cd’s that had been collected over the years. Some were bands already playing here, some were marked “good” and “yes”, but they haven’t been booked yet, some were marked “No” and “Bad” and one was even banned from the coffee shop. I got a chuckly out of that one as I wondered what could have happened? 

So one late night my friend Eric and I were working on the http://www.oldcalcoffee.com/ website and I thought I would power through all these demo cd’s in the box. Some were home made cd’s & DVD and some were professionally produced… Most of them went back in the box, but I pulled out a few “GEMS” that I am going to introduce you to over the next few months…

Tonight is one of those special finds… “FANDANGO” is playing tonight at Old Cal Coffee at 7 PM til 10 PM… Come on down for some coffee, dessert and great “LIVE MUSIC” in San Marcos, Ca!

oops, sorry, back to my story…. I didn’t want to be byist in anyway, so I listened to all of them and of course, Kimry was spot on with her taste in music, so I followed suit and booked the ones that she was going to book and found a couple of “GEMS” on my own that she hadn’t found yet… What I found interesting was, the fact that I have not booked bands before. Now I’m the guy everyone has to go to in order to play here. Of course I grew up listening to music my entire life and I’ve watched every season of American Idol, but did that qualify me to make the decisions? The fate of these artists lie in my hands now… Yes, all these thoughts and more were going through my head…. but in the end…. I think you will find, we did a pretty good job…. the weekends are packed with people every Friday and Saturday night. They come for the Food, they bring friends, they watch the bands and listen to all the great singers that play LIVE music at Old California Coffee House and Eatery. What I find very interesting about our coffee shop is that you see a lot of the same people come back again and again, but now the customers themselves are interacting and know one another. Some have even developed friendships that go far beyond the coffee shop! It’s really cool here and I hope you will come and be part of it…
